PRESIDENTS NOTES
Trade Fair!
It's that time of year again. Time for our annual AIA/CSI Trade Fair, one of the largest Construction Industry trade shows of the region!
Each year for 26 years, the AIA/CKC and the CSI Louisville Chapter have joined forces to organize and put on this trade fair. The partnership between our 2 organizations is not only long standing; it is completely unique as well. I know of no other city within the region where the AIA and CSI have united to produce a similar exposition. The long relationship of cooperation and support our 2 organizations share is an indication of the commitment each organization has to the Construction Industry as a whole and the respect they have for the various members of our diverse industry.
Like any architectural design project and any construction project, there is no single person or group that can do it all alone. It takes team effort to pull it off; and if we all pull together, we will all succeed.
Other Industry Organizations: Although AIA and CSI have taken the lead in organizing and producing the Trade Fair, there are other industry organizations that contribute to the Trade Fair's success. NAWIC has been a long time supporter of the Trade Fair by providing volunteers to help with registration. USGBC is a more recent contributor, but helps draw attendees to the Trade Fair by providing educational opportunities. Thank you so much for your support, NAWIC and USGBC!
Sponsors: There are other organizations that support the Trade Fair through financial contributions. This year Lynn Imaging is our Title Sponsor and Sherwin Williams is our Platinum Sponsor. Also, Whittenberg Construction Co and CMTA Consulting Engineers are our Silver Sponsors. CORT Furniture Rentals, another sponsor, is providing furniture for the Trade Fair Lounge. Without your help, the Trade Fair would either have to do away with many of the amenities that make the event enjoyable or charge admission. I want to thank you for your generous contributions, and I encourage everyone to stop by their booths and thank them personally.
Exhibitors: Of course, there could not be a Trade Fair without the exhibitors. You are the foundation on which the whole Trade Fair is built! Your participation is absolutely essential to the success of the Trade Fair. Many of you have been exhibiting in the show for years. We greatly appreciate your continuing support. Some of you are new to the show. Your support is also greatly appreciated, and we hope you will be back next year.
Attendees: The architects, engineers, designers, contractors, building managers, and others who visit the booths are the life blood of the Trade Fair. Your active participation in the Trade Fair and your personal engagement with the exhibitors is what keeps the exhibitors coming back year after year. Thank you for attending and bringing the show to life. Be sure to see as many exhibitors as you can. In particular, stop by some booths of exhibitors you have never seen at the Trade Fair before. By doing so, you will help assure they will be here again next year.
Finally, I would like to give special thanks to Steve Goldstein and the Trade Fair Committee. Steve, a perennial member of the committee, was good enough to step forward to chair the committee this year. Serving on this committee involves lots of hard work and many hours of donated time - especially for the Chair. As a former committee member and past Chair, I know. Great Job Steve and Committee Members! Thank you! Let's do it again next year!
See you all at the Show!

The addition and renovation project was completed in August 2012. St. Vincent DePaul Church building was acquired by Sojourn Community Church in 2010 to expand the Mid-Town campus of their growing congregation. Previously, in 2006, Sojourn renovated and moved into the old Shelby Elementary School facility at 930 Mary Street. St. Vincent’s large sanctuary provides additional capacity, the renovated Rectory houses the Sojourn Kid’s classrooms and the new addition provides gathering spaces, an art gallery, elevator, restrooms, and additional classrooms.
