President's Report

Welcome to May! I hope your horse wins.

This addition of my newsletter article will be setup like a mullet, “business in the front, party in the back.” On the business front, the Louisville CSI Chapter is needing members to step up and run for Board positions. Elections will be very soon, and we still have vacancies in Director and Treasurer positions. If you have any interest in joining the Board, or learning more about the Board, please contact Julie Eckert (Julie.eckert@tarkett.com) or myself (brent@bainesinc.com). If you want to help CSI thrive well into the future, I encourage you to run for a Board position.

Now on to the party in back, as May will be an exciting month for CSI. We will have a presentation on MSD Capital Construction Projects, and our CSI Great Lakes Region Conference in Akron, Ohio.

Chapter Meeting – Thursday. May 11th, Office Environment Company

Greg Powell and Jacob Mathis of MSD will be giving us an overview of the MSD Capital Construction Projects.

Great Lakes Region Conference, May 18th-20th, Akron, Ohio

I will be attending, as well as some of other Board Members. All Chapter members are invited to attend. For further information, please visit the website: http://csigreatlakes.csinet.org/Functional-Menu-Category/Upcoming-Events/FY2017-Great-Lakes-Region-Conference.aspx.

Please also mark your calendars for the upcoming Awards Banquet on Thursday, June 8th, at Wildwood Country Club. Festivities are set to begin at 6 PM. I hope you will be able to join us for this fun event.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our Chapter Meeting on Thursday, May 11th.

 Take care,

Brent Guiliani

Many Hands Make Light Work.

Your Hands Are Needed

So it is said, that many hands make light work. As for our local CSI Chapter, in recent years, it has been few hands doing lots of work. We are grateful to those who have volunteered their time to serve, but we invite more to join them. We currently need volunteers to help with all sub-committees, however, we have an immediate need for a Vice-Chair of the Trade Fair Committee. Consider this your call to serve! If you would like to serve, please contact Pat Sloan (psloan43@bellsouth.net) or myself (Brent Guiliani, brent@bainesinc.com).

Time for new officers to step forward. If you have a desire to serve the chapter in this capacity please contact Brent or Julie

Thank you!

Program:  “3D laser Scanning for Documenting Existing Buildings”

3D laser scanning is part of an emerging trend to incorporate “reality capture” into our existing AEC workflows. Applications include building section analysis, floor plan analysis, dimensional analysis, ADA compliance analysis, structural analysis and more. 3D Laser scanning enables Architects and Engineers to import accurate and comprehensive existing building geometry directly into their Revit or CAD environment and conduct thorough investigations of existing buildings from their office. By combining millions of accurate measurements with rich context, 3D laser scanning is changing the way design professionals document existing buildings.

Presenter:Josh Ayoroa, Ayoroa/Simmons. Josh has worked in the AEC industry for 9 years. From 2011 through 2014, Josh worked for one of the top 10 manufacturing design build firms in the country. During that time he worked with multidisciplinary teams of design and construction professionals from around the country on some of the most complex projects in the company’s portfolio. These included projects for companies like Siemens, Caterpillar,Nestle, Michelin, Champion Petfoods and Big Ass Fans. Today Josh applies his knowledge of the AEC industry and design-build to provide cost-effective 3D laser scanning and Building Information Modeling solutions to the region’s leading design professionals, contractors and owners.
